Tiger Woods, TaylorMade Announce ‘Sun Day Red’ Brand After Nike Split; Logo Unveiled

It’s time for Tiger Woods’ next chapter.

Golf Digest shared the legend’s new Sun Day Red logo, which is part of his partnership with TaylorMade following his departure from a longtime apparel partnership with Nike:

This comes after he announced on Jan. 8 he would no longer be a Nike ambassador. He first signed with the company in 1996 but revealed on social media that his partnership that helped define the world of golf for so many years with Sunday red shirts and countless iconic moments was coming to an end:

“Over 27 years ago, I was fortunate to start a partnership with one of the most iconic brands in the world,” Woods said at the time.

“The days since have been filled with so many amazing moments and memories, if I started naming them, I could go on forever. Phil Knight’s passion and vision brought this Nike and Nike Golf partnership together and I want to personally thank him, along with the Nike employees and incredible athletes I have had the pleasure of working with along the way. People will ask if there is another chapter. Yes, there will certainly be another chapter. See you in LA!”

We now know what that other chapter will be moving forward.

Doug Ferguson of the Associated Press noted before Monday’s news that “all signs point to TaylorMade” since the 82-time PGA Tour event winner plays the company’s golf clubs. What’s more, TaylorMade filed trademark applications for “Sunday Red,” among other things.

Woods made it clear red will still be part of his brand when he teased Monday’s announcement multiple times on social media:

This comes before he makes his 2024 debut on the course in the Genesis Invitational at The Riviera Country Club., which is the signature event he hosts. The loaded field also includes Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Viktor Hovland, Collin Morikawa, Max Homa, Rickie Fowler, Jason Day and Patrick Cantlay, among others.

But all eyes will be on Woods, who last played all four rounds at the Hero World Challenge in December as he returns from the ankle surgery he underwent after he withdrew before finishing the third round of the 2023 Masters.

It will certainly be a switch for golf fans who watched Woods win 15 major championships and establish himself as the face of golf and arguably the greatest player in the history of the sport during his peak with Nike.

This next chapter comes at 48 years old in what figures to be the back half of his career. While he still occasionally plays in tournaments, he is also more of an ambassador to the game and one of the player directors on the PGA Tour policy board.

But whatever memorable moments are to come will now happen with TaylorMade instead of Nike.
