It’s art-deco lobby, and doorman at the entrance, hark back to more glamorous days.

What is there to eat and drink at The Strand Palace Hotel?

You don’t need to leave to find a great meal, with the onsite Haxells restaurant serving classic British cuisine.

There’s something for everyone, with burgers, sandwiches and meaty mains, and my sea bass was flaky and delicious.

I opted for the pre-theatre three-course menu, ahead of a show at the nearby Peacock Theatre, for £30.

Make sure to save room for cocktails – the hotel’s Gin Palace has more than 50 types, while the trendy Tequila Mockingbird is now open.

Or pop into Joe Allen for live piano performances and some celeb-spotting.

What is there to do at The Strand Palace Hotel?

If you fancy a late-night workout, the on-site gym is open 24 hours a day.

Otherwise the hotel is one of the best to stay at if you’re planning on exploring London.

Just a short walk from Covent Garden, it is also right on The Strand, so you are on the doorstep of London’s finest theatres and art galleries.
